Weekend Trip to Kansas City- Sept 2018

Wednesday, June 5, 2019

Country Club Plaza

Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas. Apparently, these are the twin cities in the Mid-West. This city is beautiful and so clean, even though it rained the entire time we were there we all still had a good time site seeing. The flight time was 3 hours, and with two little ones, I had to make sure I was prepared! For the flight, I made sure to pack some activities I purchased from dollar tree, and of course, snacks. For the most part, the kids were very well behaved and slept the whole plane ride, so the snacks and activities were never used.

We drove to the Country Club Plaza, 3 tantrums and maybe 10 minutes of looking for parking later we were able to explore this charming town. There's tons of shopping malls, beautiful scenery and of course water fountains, very Instagram worthy shots. Did you know Kansas City is known as the "City of Fountains" and is said to have more fountains than Rome?  Unfortunately, my phone crashed, and most of the photos from our trip were not backed up, and I lost most of them.

Apparently, it was "Red Friday" in Kansas city which means the Red Chiefs were playing that same weekend. To support the team, the fountains were turned red. It was kind of odd, but amazing to see at the same time.

Pork Ribs smothered in BBQ Sauce (of course) with Mac n Cheese and fries.

Moving on! We had lunch at Plowboys BBQ in downtown Kansas City click on the link for location and food choices! The food was amazing they aren't an award-winning restaurant for nothing, and after a 3-hour flight, it definitely hit the spot.

The next day we visited the National WWI Museum, and Memorial general admission was $23.00, children under 6 are free. We decided to just explore the outside area (which was free) of the main gallery and the main outdoor deck. You can also experience the best view from the 217-foot tower.  You can take an elevator, followed by 45 stairs, to the open-air observation deck at the top of the Liberty Memorial Tower for a breathtaking 360° view of the Kansas City skyline. Tower Admission is discounted if you also purchase General Admission. Combo ticket here

Right across is the Union Station, here you can visit the science city, which is excellent for all ages. Starting at 13.00 dollars. And we can't forget the Legoland Discovery Center which also across from the Union Station(walking distance), we didn't get to try these activities but it is definitely recommended!

 Busy River Market

Our last day was spent at the Busy River MarketEvery weekend locals come here for gourmet grocery stores, indie boutiques, and fantastic food. We picked up some local spices, fruits and stopped at the DragonFly for some boba tea and Crepes! The kids loved it.

In the end, for the most part, Kansas City is the perfect little getaway with small children. I would recommend planning for chilly or cloudy weather if you are visiting in September!

About Me

My name is Priscilla, and I have two little humans. Saying that they are a handful is an understatement, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. So here I am 29 years old married and two kids later, I decided I needed a creative outlet. I have always thought about being a blogger, but I never had the time, nor did I even know where to begin. So tons of google searches and brainstorming ideas later here I am! I wanted to create this blog to share my journey on raising my little ones and how my husband and I manage to make our traveling adventures enjoyable. There’s a first time for everything.
